Summary

The Consumer Loan Processor is responsible for the processing and funding of all consumer loans and working with representatives from all delivery methods to meet Credit Union members’ financial needs in a professional, efficient, and knowledgeable manner.  The Consumer Loan Processor will have a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the Credit Union’s Consumer Loan policies and procedures.

In this job, you will

• Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.
• Have a thorough knowledge of the Credit Union loan policy, lending practices (including state regulations and federal regulatory requirements), and agency requirements regarding consumer lending.
• Facilitate the clearing of all underwriting conditions by working with members, branch staff and underwriters in order to receive a final approval.
• Ensure loan applications are complete, properly scored in the Loan Origination System and all calculations are accurate and complete prior to closing.
• Work with external vendors in a professional manner to clear all collateral conditions necessary to close the loan.
• Review and analyze all documentation received to determine ratios and credit and collateral acceptability. Including but not limited to, income verification documents, collateral insurance binders, purchase orders, bills of sales, collateral title & registration documents, Marine Survey, and Marine Title documents.
• Complete funding & disbursement of each consumer loan, and prepare consumer loan documents for member signature.
• Monitor and manage multiple consumer loan processor queues and email inboxes to meet service levels.
• Able to handle multiple loans in various stages in an environment consisting of phone calls and questions.
• Contact members and/or outside Marine Title Company and Dealers to negotiate final terms and coordinate signing appointments.
• Facilitate post-closing reviews to ensure all documents are executed properly by the branch and all closing conditions are met.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of BECU's Consumer Loan pricing structure, products, their accompanying forms and documentation necessary for each loan type
• Ensure proper review and control of loans making sure documentation is complete and security pledged is sufficient and in the Credit Unions best interest.
• Logically assess BECU loan products in determining alternatives when appropriate.
• Ensure that all members receive prompt, efficient, courteous, and professional service and that member problems/complaints are resolved promptly and courteously, with follow through to resolution.
• Have a general knowledge of all Credit Union departments and how they interact with the Consumer Loan department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Business, or equivalent work or educational experience required. Bachelors degree preferred.
• Minimum one year experience in Consumer Lending required.
• Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate and provide customer service.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks by prioritizing job responsibilities.
• Thorough knowledge of all RESPA, HMDA, Fair Lending, and ECOA rules and regulations.
• Proficient PC skills, with the ability to learn new software.
• Proficient math and basic accounting skills
• Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary
