    The Consumer Loan Servicing Specialist is responsible for performing processing functions necessary for the servicing and maintenance of the loan portfolio in a timely and proficient manner in accordance with credit union and department standards. This includes loan adjustments, titles and insurance, home equity servicing and quality control. This person is responsible for providing excellent service to our members and internal customers.



    In this job, you will

    • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies and Information Protection requirements.
    • Service loans in accordance with credit union policy and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Ensure that all members receive prompt, efficient, courteous, and professional service and that member problems/complaints are resolved promptly and courteously, with follow through to resolution.
    • Provide routine information concerning all products, services, and policies in order to increase member awareness of financial services provided and achieve cross sell goals set by the credit union.
    • Have a thorough knowledge of credit union departments and how they interact with each other.
    • Retrieve, work and maintain reports and general ledger accounts as assigned. Notify management of any trends or major errors in information being reported.
    • Perform Loan Adjustment functions as assigned including researching and resolving member disputes, processing loan modification requests and loan maintenance due to incorrect funding or credit reporting.
    • Perform Home Equity functions as assigned including preparing payoff statements and posting loan payoff checks.
    • Perform Title and Insurance functions as assigned including monitoring perfection of vehicle titles, converting title transfer loans to personal loans when appropriate; release documents for all consumer loans, responding and resolving members and insurance agent’s inquiries regarding insurance policies.
    • Perform Quality Control functions as assigned including insuring all new consumer loans are funded correctly. Make necessary corrections as needed.
    • Maintain effective communication with all Credit Union employees to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing Credit Union goals.
    • For the purpose of attaining Credit Union goals, it is the responsibility of each employee to strive for the continuous improvement of processes and quality of service.
    • Perform additional duties as may be assigned.
    • Ensure all documentation is maintained in an organized and secure manner.


    • Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretionary judgement.

    • Ability to perform in a multi tasked environment with the ability to prioritize using organizational and technical skills.
    • Ability to solve difficult problems with effective solutions: asks good questions and probes.
    • Good interpersonal skills to ensure personnel/member – related issues are handled in a fair, consistent manner.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills to effective communicate in the English language.
    • Ability to present a professional image when dealing with members, co-workers and outside contacts.
    • Proficient PC skills, with the ability to learn new software.
    • Proficient math and basic accounting skills
    • Additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
    • Ability to sit or stand within proximity of a terminal for extended periods.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum two years of experience working in Consumer Lending within BECU or another financial institution required.
